Triple-6, I am not a C user but I went through a similar process before.
IS is not very important to this zoom ranges, especially the 24-70mm. I switch off the VR (N's IS) function on my 105mm lense when I feel the focus is slow or I have the tripod.
They are both L series lense, the optical quality should be very good.
If you after low light shooting freedom, large aperture (generally, more control of bokeh as well), choice will be the F2.8 - my personal taste too. (when zoom range more than 3 times, the optical quality is starting to reduce - in theory);
If you need more zoom range and shooting landscapes, 24-105mm is an obvious choice.
Can some experienced friends give opinion?
Comparing 24-70mm F/2.8L & 24-105mm F/4L
zoom range and aperture are different. well, there are compromises.
One is without IS. Is it very important?
