assuming u drive 15,000 miles per year, average gas price $3.8, then you will save, over the span of 10 years a total of $11,400 in gas, if you drive a Prius instead of a SUV... but only saving ~$5000 during the 10 years if you drive a regular Camry, compared to a Prius.

that is a good idea if it works. I saw the Stanford solar car with out gas engine and battery charger goes for 80 mile per hour in a 2900 km race, total sun power, very nice. hope they can make it commercially viable soon.

Plug-in is about 10k more! I will never get that money back with 10 miles per day. and no sun here during winter...about 6 months.

Gas car fuel economy tends to be quite consistent. Hybrid cars fuel economy deteriorates and fails after some years.
Wonder what the numbers are like when you figure in the cost of a replacement battery.
